Liberals broke long-term care and won’t fix it

Today, the Liberals are pretending they’ll do away with for-profit long-term care, after fifteen years in government where they left more than 20,000 Ontarians on wait lists for care, only built 611 new long-term care beds, and let their big corporate friends make big profits in the system.

Since 2014, the Ontario Liberal Party has accepted over $125,000 in political contributions from for-profit care companies including Extendicare, Revera and Chartwell.

Steven Del Duca’s Chief Health advisor, Dr. Bob Bell, has repeatedly argued for maintaining the status quo of a broken for-profit long-term care system, just like the Ford PCs.

Andrea Horwath’s NDP is the only party ready to fix the broken seniors care system and put residents first, starting by fixing home care and removing the profits from long-term care.
